Trendy block of flats with apartments to rent for £575 a month – but can YOU see why it’s being mocked?
STUNNED home hunters have ridiculed a trendy block of flats for looking exactly like something else – somewhere that is far less homely.
A two-bed penthouse apartment in a converted mill in Preston, Lancashire, hit the market for £575 per month.
But potential renters were shocked by the building’s spitting image of a jail.
Barriers line the metal spiral staircases and balcony walkways surround each floor of the communal area as if fit for prison guards to patrol along.
Even one of the bedrooms looks like a cell – a basic box room with bare furniture and one tiny window.
And hilariously, the fifth-floor, furnished flat is just a stone’s throw from an actual clink.
Only 150 metres down the road is Category B, HMP Preston.
Although the property offers the complete package, prospective tenants were quick to mock the slammer-style building online.
One potential lodger – called Laura – said: “Sorry, am I going mad or does this look like it’s in a prison?”
Another, Lisa Haldane, added: “I think it’s actually a refurbished prison though.”

Jack Gregory said: “It's the brick wall balcony which gives of vibes of being imprisoned.”
Another said it was a mixture of famous London prison HMP Wormwood Scrubs and the iconic Milan football stadium.
He quipped: “Like a mix of San Siro and Wormwood.”
One – called Fiona – said: “Definitely an old prison, I saw it on a TV programme.
“I kinda like it actually.”
Another, Leah, said: “This is 10,000 per cent a prison block.”
Yet one – called Edward – said: “If it’s New Hall Lane, there’s a good chance it's an old prison block.”
But he then added: “Just realised where it is and realised it used to be a mill, not a prison.”
The flat is let by property company The Market Place and is advertised on Rightmove.
The listing reads: “Entrance hallway with karndean flooring through to lounge.
“Large lounge with full length feature window and balcony overlooking the city and Ribble Valley beyond, furnished with leather sofa and armchair, TV, dining table and four chairs.
“Modern fitted kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer.
“Two bedrooms one with en-suite shower room, with wardrobes, beds and bedside cabinets.
“Three piece bathroom with over bath shower, cloak store, parking, lift to all floors.”
The lucky lodgers can make the cellblock-like apartment theirs for £575 per month.
