Winter Love Island 2023: Start date, cast and where new villa is

Winter Love Island has officially been confirmed and will be back on our screens in 2023.

So, if your life is taken over by the dating show every summer, you better be prepared for another two months of sun, romance, and obviously – lots of drama.

Here’s everything we know so far about Winter Love Island, from the start date, the cast, and where the brand new villa will be.

Who will present Winter Love Island 2023?

Laura Whitmore, the former Love Island presenter, announced she would be leaving the show in August, which left fans wondering who the new replacement would be.

Back in October, ITV confirmed that TV presenter Maya Jama would be stepping into the Love Island hosting shoes.

And on Boxing Day this year, they shared a first look at Maya as the new host, releasing a teaser trailer of her against a pink background as the now iconic theme tune plays.

“New year, new series, new host. Let’s do this, @mayajama!” ITV captioned.

Maya also shared a statement about joining the show, saying: “I’ve always been such a massive Love Island fan and I’m so excited to be hosting one of the nation’s favourite shows! I can’t wait to get into the Villa to meet all of the Islanders.”

She also took to her own social media to announce the news, writing: “Okay, the rumours are true [wink face] Say hey to your brand-new #LoveIsland host @mayajama!”

When was Winter Love Island announced?

Fans have known about the return of the winter series since June, after ITV shared a press release announcing the news.

“2023 is officially the year of Love, as ITV and Lifted Entertainment (part of ITV Studios) announce two new series of Love Island, coming to ITV2 and ITVX in the New Year,” the statement read.

"As TV’s biggest show across 16-34 year olds, Love Island will kick start the New Year with a fresh batch of Islanders heading to South Africa on a quest for love and romance.

In the villa of their dreams, their stay in paradise will serve up everything from bombshell arrivals to hideaway hijinks."

Exciting!

Who will be taking part in Winter Love Island?

Unfortunately, it’s a little too early to know who will be taking part in the new winter series.

However, what we do know is that it will be dramatic whoever is cast, and we’ll be glued to our screens for two months straight.

As soon as we hear word of who’ll be entering the villa, you best believe we’ll be keeping you updated!

When can we expect to catch Winter Love Island and where will it be?

Executive Producer at Lifted Entertainment, Mike Spencer revealed the new series can be expected in January 2023, but the exact date is still under wraps.

"After eight brilliant series, we are excited to be serving up two helpings of love in 2023 by kicking off in January at a stunning new villa in South Africa,” he said.

"We can look forward to more romances, bromances and everything in between as we embark on another epic year of love."
