  • UNAI EMERY claims ten-man Arsenal's late comeback win over Aston Villa boosted the Emirates' rapport between players and fans.

Although bemoaning supporters for ironically cheering off subbed skipper Granit Xhaka, Gunners boss Emery claims his team are winning over fans with their commitment.

With Arsenal now back up to fourth in the Premier League, Emery said: “Today the character was amazing.

“We want to feel with our supporters something special, to connect with them.

“Playing with one less player, not easy. We lost some control but we took some risks to come back.

We are creating good spirit with our supporters and the players are feeling that.

“Our commitment, our behaviour, fighting each ball, taking some risks. That is good. That character, that connection with our supporters, that spirit. We can be happy, I think.”

  • TEN-MAN Arsenal recovered to snatch a 3-2 lead with a stunning late double at home to Aston Villa – after twice trailing.

Gunners' full-back Ainsley Maitland-Niles saw red for his second yellow card on 41 minutes after Villa led through John McGinn.

Nicolas Pepe levelled, only for Wesley to restore Villa's advantage.

But Calum Chambers poked a second equaliser on 81 minutes.

And three minutes later Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang smashed home a brilliant free-kick.

Chambers blamed himself for a Villa goal – but saluted Aubameyang's “quality” in sealing the Gunners' 3-2 comeback win.

Defender Chambers said: “We stuck in there and worked hard and deserved it in the end.

“The win is massive for us as a club and team. We have the quality and the spirit.

“I hold my hand up to their second goal so I had to put things right.”

And of red-hot Aubameyang, who has now hit 16 goals in 16 games, Chambers said: “He is a quality striker.

“A lot of the players in this team have quality but to have him scoring goals is great for us.’”
