THAT'S SAUL FOLKS
Manchester United are set to miss out on Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez this summer, according to reports.
The 25-year-old had been earmarked as a potential acquisition to bolster the Red Devils' midfield – particularly with Paul Pogba's likely departure.
But according to AS, the Spanish side will demand that the 19-cap Spanish international's £132million release clause be paid in FULL if they are to let their academy graduate go.
The figure was weaved into Saul's NINE-year contract when it was agreed upon back in 2017.
This price-tag would smash the £89m club-record fee that United paid for Pogba, 27, back in 2016.
MULL OVER IT
Bayern Munich have reportedly reached an agreement with Manchester United target Thomas Muller to extend his contract until 2023.
The German forward, 30, has spent his entire career with the Bundesliga giants but hinted he could leave this summer.
According to Bild, Muller is set to pen a two-year contract extension with the German club.
But in January he fuelled rumours he could leave the club this summer amid interest from Manchester United.
He told Sport1: “My focus is exclusively on being successful this season.
“What will happen in the summer, I will talk to the club and consider my options.”
RON IMPRESSION
Paulo Dybala told former United star Cristiano Ronaldo he is hated in Argentina but admitted the Portugal hero is “different”.
The former Palermo forward, 26, revealed to the Argentinian Football Association: “I said to him, 'Cristiano, in Argentina, we hate you a bit because of your figure, because of how you are, of how you walk.'
“The truth is that, you've surprised me because I've found you to be different.”
IV FOUND A BARGAIN
Manchester United target Ivan Rakitic will be free to leave Barcelona for £17.6million this summer, according to reports.
The Croatian's importance to Barcelona has been on the wane in the last couple of seasons, having previously been a key man.
The 32-year-old's contract expires in June 2021, and Barca chiefs are hoping to recoup the majority of the £17m they paid for him in 2014 when he arrived from Sevilla.
The coronavirus pandemic has added uncertainty to the summer's transfer window.
But Marca claim that Rakitic is expected to leave regardless.
He is believed to have suitors in Spain, England, Italy and France – with the Red Devils among them.
N-EU ORDER
European football chiefs have agreed to create space to finish the domestic leagues.
In Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin’s latest video conference with the 55 national associations, it was decided to put ALL international games on hold until at least September.
And that the remaining Champions League and Europa League ties will not be scheduled until later in the year — although there is still hope they can be finished by autumn.
That will leave room in the calendar so domestic leagues have a chance to be completed — especially the Premier League, Serie A, LaLiga, Bundesliga and Ligue 1.
