ARSENAL continue to wait for news on the return of the Premier League.

But the Gunners may have an ulterior motive for not wanting it to come back, with Uefa reportedly considering allowing them into the Champions League if the season is cancelled.

  • MORNING ARSENAL 

    Thomas Partey’s agents have reportedly dismissed suggestions Arsenal are in talks with Atletico Madrid over a move for the midfielder. 

    The Ghana international’s father claimed rumours of talks between the two clubs were true in an interview aired on a Ghanaian radio station. 

    However Spanish outlet Marca say JJSport have denied the claims. 

    The firm, who manage the player’s career, described the suggestions as “all fake”. 

    If this is the case then it could be Partey off for Gunners fans hoping to see the player move to North London. 

    Meanwhile, David Luiz has revealed he hopes to one day return to the Portuguese club that gave him his big break in Europe. 

    The Gunners centre-back told SporTV he’s keen to have one more spell at Benfica, the Primeira Liga side who gave him his introduction to European football at 19. 

    Luiz, who spent four years at Benfica before his 2011 move to Chelsea, joined Arsenal last summer. 

    The Brazil international has made 32 appearances for the Gunners this season, following his switch to the Emirates from Stamford Bridge. 

    Mikel Arteta is rumoured to be keeping tabs on a number of possible defensive targets for Arsenal. 

    Napoli’s Amir Rrahmani is reported to be among the names on the Arsenal manager’s shortlist. 

    The agent of the Serie A player, who’s currently valued at £12million, claims the club have shown an interest in his client but have not made any “official proposals”. 

  • MOVE UPA NORTH OR SOUTH?

    Dayot Upamecano is believed to favour a move to Arsenal or Man United according to reports.

    The RB Leipzig defender is believed to a target for a several Premier League sides.

    The French centre-back's contract at the club, who are currently third in the Bundesliga, is due to expire next year.

    And reports in Spain claim Upamecano, who's also on Barcelona's radar, would prefer a move to the Premier League.

    Upamecano, 21, believes his physical attributes could see him become a star playing for either the Gunners or the Red Devils.

  • PARTEY OFF?

    Agents representing Thomas Partey have dismissed claims of talks between Arsenal and Atletico Madrid in regard to a possible move to North London.

    Sport Witness say the defensive midfielder's father suggested negotiations between the two sides were in progress.

    However JJSports who manage Partey's career have denied the claims.

    Spanish outlet Marca say the firm have rubbished the suggestions and described them as "all fake".

  • DAVID'S DREAM

    David Luiz has revealed he hopes to one day return to Benfica.

    The Portuguese giants gave the Arsenal defender his big break in European football when he signed for them in 2007 at the age of 19.

    In a SporTV interview reported by Goal Luiz said: “I never lost my connection with Benfica, I have that in my heart, everybody knows I want to come back.

    “I want to wear the Benfica shirt again and feel that sensation.

    “The day I come back to the Estadio da Luz it is going to be very special, one of the greatest feelings of my life.”

    Luiz has made 32 appearances for the Gunners since leaving Chelsea to join the club last summer.

  • PARTEY TIME FOR GUNNERS?

    The father of Gunners target Thomas Partey reckons a switch from Atletico Madrid to Arsenal will depend on demands made by the La Liga club.

    The Spanish team are hoping to tie Partey down to a new contract.

    However Talksport reckon that prospect is looking unlikely.

    Partey's father Jacob told Tru FM: “If he goes to Arsenal fine, they have a lot supporters in Ghana. I will be happy if he decides to move to Arsenal.

    “What they are discussing now is how Atletico will release him.”
