  • FRANK LAMPARD challenged Chelsea’s young guns to fight for the title.

The Blues boss fielded the youngest Premier League team in their history yesterday.

And after goals from Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic put Crystal Palace away, Lamps urged them to aim for the stars.

He said: “The younger players are showing they deserve to be at this level.

“I’m proud of the squad we have but I also realise it is just a snapshot. The big picture is the long-term future. At the moment they are sustaining it with Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Reece James, who has just come in.

“We are about a third of the way through and we are in a good position. But we know this league can punish you if you drop off.

“If we want to build something over a long period of time here then we have got so much improvement to do because the gap was too big last year between us and the top two. So we want to close that.”

  • BURNLEY are ready to pull the plug on Danny Drinkwater’s spell at Turf Moor.

The Clarets can extend the midfielder’s loan from Chelsea in January.

But, again, it would be at his full wages – an eye-watering £120,000-a-week.

Drinkwater has done little to force his way into Sean Dyche’s side and they are now looking at alternatives.

The former England midfielder has made just one appearance for the club, in the Carabao Cup.

He was left injured an unable to play after an he was attacked outside a nightclub in September.

The brawl, allegedly following a dispute with fellow footballer Kgosi Ntlhe, left him with ankle ligament damage.

Drinkwater has played just 23 times since leaving Leicester City in 2017.

  • CHRISTIAN PULISIC is on fire.

  • CHELSEA are ready to fork out £70million on Lazio ace Sergej Milinkovic-Savic if their transfer ban is overturned, according to reports.

The Blues will have their appeal heard by the Court of Arbitration on November 20 to learn whether their two-window ban is overturned before January.

And if it is Frank Lampard is ready to waste no time in opening Roman Abramovich's cheque book to bolster his squad.

Having been banned from signing players in the summer, the Blues will have cash to burn when handed the opportunity.

According to the Mirror, another midfielder is at the top of the priority list and Milinkovic-Savic remains on the shortlist.

Manchester United were heavily linked for the 24-year-old in the summer but failed to get a deal over the line.

And Chelsea are ready to join the race have already sent scouts to watch him in Serie A this season.
