College World Series weather: Will rain in forecast delay Louisville vs. Auburn in Omaha?

There is always a chance of weather messing with the College World Series, and that could be the case Tuesday.

There is a 90 percent chance of precipitation in Omaha, Nebraska, which very well could influence the start time of the Louisville and Auburn game. The first pitch scheduled to be thrown at 2 p.m. ET.

Louisville and Auburn will play before the night game between Vanderbilt and Mississippi State at 7 p.m. ET.

That game could be in doubt as well, as there are storms likely before 7 p.m. local time. It is unclear if the storms will be bad enough to postpone the entire day, but chances of delays are certainly possible.

There could be weather problems going into the weekend as well, as there is a 20 percent chance of rain Thursday and 60 percent on Friday.

Weather in the great plains can certainly be finicky. From 1991 to 2015, the state of Nebraska was hit by an average of 54.6 tornados per year, which was tied with Florida for the fourth most in the nation. The most common time for those storms are the months of May and June.

The 2018 College World Series was a rough season for weather, as NCAA official Randy Buhr called it “the most challenging College World Series as it pertains to inclement weather.”

There were five days which featured either delayed or postponed games in 2018.

To this point in 2019, no game has been delayed or postponed, but Tuesday may very well be the day that is disrupted by the weather.
