Errol Spence Jr in intensive care after flipping white Ferrari ‘multiple times’ and being thrown from vehicle in horror high-speed car crash in Dallas – The Sun
WORLD champion boxer Errol Spence Jr is in intensive care after flipping his Ferrari in a horrific high-speed car crash in Dallas.
The welterweight king was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown out of his vehicle during the smash, which saw the super-car somersault "multiple times".
Earlier in the night, the man widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world posted a video to his Instagram Stories showing a pal dancing in a nightclub.
A statement from police in Dallas said: “At 2:53am a Ferrari travelling at a high rate of speed northbound in the 500 S. Riverfront Blvd.
"The Ferrari veered left over the centre median onto the southbound lanes and flipped multiple times ejecting the driver who was not wearing a seatbelt.
"The cause of the accident is undetermined at this time.”
Pictures show the mangled wreck of a vehicle being towed away with cops on the scene.
The white Ferrari was the only car involved in the accident, which took place at around 3am, close to the I-30 in Dallas.
Police say the driver was taken to hospital in a serious condition, although authorities say he is expected to survive.
It is understood his parents are now with him while he remains in intensive care.
Spence Jr is undefeated as a pro, winning all 26 of his fights, 21 by KO, and is the reigning IBF and WBC welterweight world champ.
His most recent scrap was against fellow American Shawn Porter, which he won by split decision.
It was regarded as one of the fights of the year.
Spence Jr famously battered former British world champ Kell Brook in May 2017, stopping the Sheffield man in the 11th round.
And Brook was quick to send a message of support to his old rival with a post on Twitter.
He wrote: "Get well soon champ! Thoughts are with you and wishing you a full and speedy recovery."
The fighter, who was born in Long Island, New York, is now a Dallas resident in the DeSoto neighbourhood.
He is a father of two daughters under the age of five, and regards himself as a Dallas local having been raised in the city since a child.
