FA Cup final could be pushed back to OCTOBER to ‘keep Wembley dream alive’ amid coronavirus chaos – The Sun
THE FA are determined to complete the 2019/20 FA Cup – leading to a potential Wembley final in October.
A statement from English football bosses on Thursday addressed the difficulty of fitting in the final three rounds of the competition amid the coronavirus shutdown.
And while non-league clubs are seeking to close the campaign early, there was a promise to "do all we can" to see out the cup.
Likewise, the Premier League and Football League have committed to extending the season indefinitely.
According to Daily Mirror, that could mean knocking back the FA Cup final as far as October.
The quarter-finals are still yet to be played between the eight remaining teams in the competition, and there are still up to ten Premier League games to play each as well as the final rounds of European competition.
Thursday's FA statement confirmed: "We are reviewing all options as we seek to complete these competitions whenever it is safe and appropriate to do so.
"Clubs involved are close to reaching a major final and for those clubs and supporters we will do all we can to keep the Wembley dream alive."
