Inter Milan launch new £73m transfer offer for Man Utd outcast Romelu Lukaku after striker is fined for going AWOL – The Sun

INTER MILAN have upped their bid for Manchester United outcast Romelu Lukaku to £73million – and will pay it all in full.

Old Trafford chiefs were keen to do a deal for the striker so they can spend the money before Thursday's deadline.

Meanwhile, United have fined the Belgium striker for attending a training session at Anderlecht.

United had wanted £75m for the player they signed for £90m from Everton in 2017.

Inter have been trying all summer to get the big man.

Their first offer of £45m up front with the rest in add-ons was rejected by Old Trafford bosses.

They went back with another offer of £73m but still after lots of add-ons.

However, this latest offer, although still short of what United want ideally, could tempt boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to finally do business.

Lukaku was fined a total of £400,000 – two weeks' wages – for training in Belgium without his club's consent.

United chiefs thought he was heading to London where agent Federico Pastorello was set to hold talks with Inter.

Juventus are also after the 26-year-old hitman.

But Inter money men are increasingly confident they can wrap up a deal in the next 24 hours.

New San Siro boss Antonio Conte has made Lukaku his top priority.

He said: “We continue to work on it in the best possible way.

“I understand there are some gaps that need to be filled, but at the moment I am very hopeful that this will happen."

It had looked as though they would have to sell Mauro Icardi to finance the deal.

However, Inter are now ready to cough up the money virtually in full to get this deal signed and sealed.
