Jets trade for Demaryius Thomas in rare Patriots deal

The Jets and Patriots made a rare trade Tuesday, with New England sending wide receiver Demaryius Thomas to Gang Green for a 2021 sixth-round draft pick, ESPN first reported.

Thomas (hamstring) sat out the Patriots’ Week 1 thrashing of the Steelers, and had 59 receptions for 677 yards and five touchdowns last season split between Denver and Houston.

Thomas, 31, became expendable with the Patriots signing superstar Antonio Brown over the weekend.

The five-time Pro Bowler had his most productive seasons in Denver, from 2010 to 2014, when he was alongside current Jets head coach Adam Gase.

The Jets’ offense struggled mightily in Sunday’s 17-16 Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
