Kyle Sinckler knocked out in World Cup final against South Africa

Kyle Sinckler’s Rugby World Cup final is over after just three minutes as England prop is KNOCKED OUT

England suffered an early setback in the Rugby World Cup final against South Africa after Kyle Sinckler was knocked out inside three minutes of the start.

The prop immediately received medical attention after being hit by the forearm of Maro Itoje after trying to tackle South Africa winger Makazole Mapimpi. 

Both the Harlequins prop and the Saracens lock went in for the tackle on Mapimpi, but it was the former who came off worse just two minutes into the game in Yokohama.

The prop was knocked unconscious after his head was accidentally hit by Maro Itoje’s forearm

Sinckler was motionless on the field for several minutes while he received medical help

As a result, Sinckler dropped to the floor and lay motionless on the turf as medics rushed to assist him, resulting in the game being halted for several minutes. 

As concerned teammates watched on praying for the best, ITV commentators explained that physios were telling Sinckler that he had been knocked out.

Soon after he came around and sat up, which was greeted by the applause from thousands of relieved fans. 

The prop eventually managed to sit up which drew the applause of the crowd in Yokohama

Sinckler was unable to continue and was withdrawn inside three minutes of the start

A stretcher had initially been called for the England prop with medical staff fearing the worst, however Sinckler rose to his feet a few minutes later.

England did not risk any further involvement for Sinckler and replaced him immediately with Dan Cole. 

Sinckler was given a rousing ovation when he went off in what was a disappointing end to a fantastic tournament for the prop.

Dan Cole replaced the Harlequins prop for the remaining 77 minutes of the World Cup final

The Harlequins forward scored his first international try in the quarter-final against Australia, and overcame a calf injury suffered against New Zealand in the semi-final to be declared fit for the showdown with South Africa.

South African hooker Mbongeni Mbonambi was also taken off for a head injury assessment after being replaced by Malcolm Marx in the first half.
