Liverpool boost with Firmino fit for Champions League final against Tottenham but Keita out

ROBERTO FIRMINO is FIT for the Champions League final against Tottenham – but his Liverpool team-mate Naby Keita is ruled out.

Firmino has been absent in the side since May 1 when Liverpool lost 3-0 against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final first leg.

Klopp revealed Firmino has been training with his Liverpool team-mates ahead of the finalThe 27-year-old watched from the sidelines as his replacement Divock Origi scored the winner in the return tie to cap off a 4-0 comeback win.

After being pictured training in Marbella with his team-mates, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp announced the news Firmino is set to be fit for the final in Madrid.

Klopp said: “Bobby trained, was part of training last week. Everything fine, then we took him out again.

“He will be in training tomorrow again. All we’ve seen so far looks really good. He will be fine, I’m pretty sure.”

However, as positive news emerges on a striking front, midfielder Keita, who like Firmino has not played since the semi-final first leg in Barcelona, has been ruled out by his manager.

Klopp said: “No chance for Naby. Naby is really progressing well, we will see how it works out with African Cup of Nations.”

The Guinea international was substituted midway through the first half at the Nou Camp and subsequently missed the rest of Liverpool's campaign.

For Tottenham, skipper Harry Kane travelled with his team-mates to Madrid in a late bid to be fit for the final.

The 25-year-old England striker picked up a ligament injury in April during the quarter-final against Manchester City and has since missed nine games.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has not yet made a decision on whether to start his captain and will use the days leading up to the final in order to make his assessment.
