Loftus-Cheek winning fitness race for Chelsea with midfield ace back training ‘in 4-6 weeks’ – The Sun
CHELSEA star Ruben Loftus-Cheek is set to return to training within “four to six weeks” after being sidelined since May.
The English midfielder ruptured an Achilles during a friendly against New England Revolution, which caused him to miss the Europa League final against Arsenal.
Loftus-Cheek has informed Sky Sports he will return to training within six weeks.
The Blues ace was unable to take part in pre-season under new manager Frank Lampard.
However, the Blues boss handed Loftus-Cheek a new five-year deal worth £150,000 a week in July.
With the 23-year-old still recovering from injury, Chelsea were given a boost with winger Callum Hudson-Odoi returning to training.
The England forward, 18, has not played since April 22 after suffering an Achilles injury against Burnley.
But after taking part in training with the Under-23s in recent weeks, Hudson-Odoi has now teamed up with the first team once again at Cobham.
Chelsea tweeted a series of photos of the youngster getting stuck in during training.
It comes as Hudson-Odoi, like Loftus-Cheek, is set to sign a new five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
The contract is said to be worth £200,000 a week – making him the highest paid teenager.
Chelsea have been in advanced talks with the talented youngster for a month now, as the club hope to stave off the advances of Bayern Munich.
The German giants have been chasing the hotshot winger since January and had bids of up to £35million turned down.
