Man City hoping to lure Jadon Sancho back in £90m transfer… and believe five things are in their favour above rivals – The Sun

MANCHESTER CITY are stepping up their pursuit to get Jadon Sancho back from Borussia Dortmund.

And Pep Guardiola’s side believe there are five key reasons why they are favourite to land the England winger.

The 19-year-old quit the Etihad in the summer of 2017 in his search for regular first-team football.

He has gone on to become one of the best attackers in Europe, scoring 21 goals in just 59 Bundesliga matches.

The Continent's elite are all looking to snap him up, including Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

But City feel have the advantage on their rivals, with a number of contractual factors already in their favour.

These include:

  • 20 per cent discount of transfer fee due to sell on clause.
  • Option to match any offer which comes in from other clubs.
  • Big pals with Raheem Sterling and other England players.
  • Knows the club inside out after spending two years there.
  • Looking to quit Dortmund in search of a step up in club ambition.

City have started to look for a replacement for Leroy Sane, as Bayern Munich prepare another bid.

It is understood Guardiola has sent staff over to Germany for regular scouting missions on Sancho since he left.

An Etihad source said: “There are a number of factors in it but Raheem could be key to the whole thing next summer.

“There’s a worry Leroy might go but there would be a discount on Jadon due to his contract clauses.

“Raheem would love him back as the pair have a decent friendship. Jadon looks up to him and asks for advice.

“There is no issues our end after he left. He has never slated the club or mentioned anything negative.”

Sancho would cost City between £80m and £90m after receiving a £10m transfer fee for him back in 2017.

And the Etihad club would want around £100m for Sane, essentially off-setting any money paid.

Sancho has grown unsettled at Dortmund, having TWICE been dropped at Dortmund this season with the Bundesliga side citing disciplinary issues.

And club chief Michael Zorc fuelled rumours of unrest between the team and player after saying the England star still needs to mature.
