Man Utd fans love keeper Romero’s weird facial expressions in penalty shoot-out win over Rochdale – The Sun

FORGET spaghetti legs, Sergio Romero turned into The Joker to win a penalty shoot-out as Manchester United squeezed past Rochdale in the League Cup.

Having been taken to penalties, the Red Devils netted all their attempts and relied on Romero to push them into the next round.

Indeed, the Argentine saved Jimmy Keohane's spot-kick with quite the unusual method of putting off the Dale player.

As the midfielder lined up the ball, Romero was caught by TV cameras making a menacing smile straight into his eyes.

It evidently worked – Keohane failed to bypass the keeper and United eventually won 5-3, after the 1-1 draw.

Fans online picked up on the incident and quickly relayed it as another example of Romero's cult hero status at Old Trafford.

One fan on Reddit joked: "The new Joker movie looks great."

Another posted: "They should add this in the new FIFA/ PES."

While one United supporter summed it up: "I mean, it worked."

Mikey added: "That's just his resting smile face. Like resting bitch face, but happier."

And one commenter noted: "I remember seeing the penalty taker look away because it's just that weird."

Finally, Akash hit the nail on the head: "Going to bang as a gif this."
