Man Utd lose teen strike sensation Mipo Odubeko after he snubs new contract – The Sun

MANCHESTER UNITED have lost teenage goalscoring sensation Mipo Odubeko – after the youngster snubbed a new deal.

The Republic of Ireland Under-17 international scored 35 goals for United's academy side last season.

Seen as one of the club's hottest prospects, the Nigerian-born 16-year-old was due to sign a new contract on July 1.

But after talks with the club the youngster has rejected the offer and is now a free agent.

Bayern Munich, Feyenoord and Italian side Genoa are chasing Odubeko, who joined United when a spell at Manchester City ended.

Odubeko started his career at St Joseph's Boys Club in Dublin.

The hitman is thought to favour a move to the continent.

But he could stay in the Prem and both Newcastle and Burnley have been linked with the youngster.

It is a huge blow to United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who hopes to build his Old Trafford revolution with homegrown British talent.

He has already signed England right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Wales winger Daniel James, while he is set to give more United youngsters the opportunity to make the first-team breakthrough.

Solskjaer handed debuts to Mason Greenwood, Tahith Chong and James Garner after his December arrival at the club.

Highly-rated full-back Brandon Wiliams signed a pro deal in April last year, thought to be over three years.

Meanwhile, United are still trying to tie up an £80m deal for striker Romelu Lukaku with Inter Milan.

Inter's sporting director Piero Ausilio confirmed on Thursday night that the club have made an official approach to United for the Belgian.

New San Siro boss Antonio Conte has made Lukaku his top priority in the summer window as he looks to overhaul his attack.
