Man Utd set to miss out on Arkadiusz Milik transfer with Napoli ace close to Roma move in Cengiz Under plus £14m swap

MANCHESTER UNITED look to have missed out on signing Arkadiusz Milik after Napoli agreed to sell him to Roma.

Reports claim the Polish striker's move to the Italian capital is almost complete.

Under the proposed terms, Roma will pay just £14million for Milik.

They will also send Cengiz Under to Napoli in exchange for the hotshot striker, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Milik, 26, had been a £60m summer target of both Man Utd and Tottenham.

United fancied their chances, too – with Milik once admitting he was a fan of theirs growing up.

During his time in Germany between 2013 and 2015, Milik claimed: "I am a Red Devil supporter.

"I would love to play at Old Trafford one day.

"For now, however, I am a Bayer Leverkusen footballer, and I am very far from Manchester."

Milik played just six times for Leverkusen before moving to Ajax for the 2015-16 season.

After excelling in Holland, Milik bagged a move to Napoli where he has since scored 38 times in 93 Serie A games.

In that span, he's also netted 14 times in 49 matches for Poland – where he's formed a fearsome partnership with Robert Lewandowski.

As well as Man Utd and Spurs, Milik had been on the radar of Juventus this summer.

But he appears to be on the brink of a move to Roma – who finished fifth in Serie A last season, just 13 points adrift of champions Juve.

Roma are also hoping to make Chris Smalling's loan move permanent, but are struggling to meet United's £20m valuation.
