MLB 2020 season is one giant step closer to happening

The 2020 MLB season is one step closer to happening.

The MLB Players Association has informed the league it plans to report for spring training on July 1 and play the 60-game season, The Post’s Joel Sherman reported on Tuesday.

The agreement for now ends weeks of contentious back-and-forth between the two sides.

While the framework is in place, the league and players must nail down health and safety protocols, complicated by the recent coronavirus surge in the U.S., which includes various team members testing positive.

Despite the hurdles that remain, Mets superstar Pete Alonso seems optimistic the shortened season will take place.

“Baseball is back baby!!!! And I only have one thing to say,” Alonso tweeted, adding an image that contained his Mets rallying cry, “LFGM.”
