RAHEEM STERLING "commemorated the 50-year anniversary of the moon landing" by skying his penalty for Manchester City against Wolves, according to fans on Twitter.

The England star, 24, stepped up to take the spot-kick in the Premier League Asia Trophy final – and fans have been quick to poke fun.

One wrote: "Man City's Raheem Sterling with his own personal tribute to the 50th anniversary of the lunar landing by firing a penalty to the moon."

Another said: "That might be the worst penalty in history from Sterling there."

A third added: "That ball is gonna land in Area 51 in a couple of hours!"
