Rams’ Brian Allen first NFL player to test positive for coronavirus

Los Angeles Rams center Brian Allen became the first NFL player to test positive for the coronavirus, according to Fox Sports.

Allen told Fox Sports he first contacted COVID-19 three weeks ago. The biggest symptom he first noticed was that he lost his ability to smell, saying smelling salts up to his nose had no effect. According to the report, Allen eventually lost his sense of taste and things spiraled from there.

Allen, who told the website that he is feeling better, also added that his other symptoms included periodical sore throats, severe fatigue and that it felt different than any other flu he has had.

Doctors told the 24-year-old that he will actually be all clear from his symptoms this week, according to the report, but that regaining full function of taste and smell could take a bit longer.

The Rams selected the 6-foot-2 Allen in the fourth round out of Michigan State in the 2018 NFL Draft and started nine games last season until suffering an MCL injury that ended his campaign.

New Orleans coach Sean Payton was the first NFL coach to test positive and said he has been cleared of all symptoms.
