Tyson Fury asked dad John ‘did it look good on tele?’ in touching phone call minutes after beating Deontay Wilder – The Sun

TYSON FURY rang his dad John to ask whether his beating of Deontay Wilder "looked good on tele" minutes after being crowned new WBC heavyweight champ.

The Gypsy King completed one of the greatest ever sporting comebacks on Saturday night in Las Vegas when he obliterated the previously undefeated American.

Wilder was floored twice before his corner threw in the towel in the seventh round.

It was a masterful performance from Fury who promised a KO win in the build up and delivered to become champion for the second time.

Once backstage after the victory, Fury had an emotional phone call with his dad John, who wasn't able to be at the fight at the MGM Grand owing to having a criminal record.

The conversation was caught on camera by iFL TV.

Fury vs Wilder LATEST: All the reaction after Gypsy King brutally destroys American

Fury said: "Everyone was thinking what’s he doing at this high weight, 272lbs. I was 19 stone 4lbs tonight, solid.

“Listen, I was too strong for him dad. I was 40lbs heavier than him. He was about 15-and-a-half stone and I was about 19-and-a-half stone.”

Wilder was fuming with his corner for waving the white flag in the seventh, but Fury believes it was the only decision that could be taken.

He continued: "Yeah they did a good thing. Listen, I was going to hurt him I was. I busted his ear, blood running down his ear.

"Listen, he was long dead. He didn’t recover from the first knock down. I hit him with a left hook to the body and tripled him. The sheer strength of me put him over with a body shot.

He then wanted some approval from his old man, asking: “Did it look good on the tele?

“Hey, dad, only the second man in history to win the Ring Magazine belt twice – me and Muhammad Ali. Not bad, eh?

“Go on then dad, I’ve got a million interviews. I’ll call you when I get back to the house. See you in a bit. Bye.”

JOSHUA UNDISPUTED CLASH NEXT?

After the video was posted to YouTube, boxing fans have praised the relationship between father and son.

One wrote: "Just listening to how much Tyson looks up to his father and tries to impress him is inspirational even at his age.

Ahmed Hanif posted: "Still talking to his dad like a kid trying to impress his dad class."

And another commented: "This is brilliant, it’s like a young lad talking to his dad after sports day. Respect to all Tyson’s family."

John Fury appeared on Good Morning Britain where he urged his son to RETIRE so he can spend quality time with his wife Paris and their five children.

All thoughts are already on who's next for the Gypsy King.

Deontay Wilder has 30 days to accept the rematch for this year, otherwise that could be pushed back to 2021.

That opens up the mouthwatering possibility of Fury fighting fellow Brit and WBO, WBA and IBF champ Anthony Joshua in an undisputed clash.

But AJ is seemingly well down the line to agreeing to meet IBF mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev in June, meaning there could be plenty of wrangling from all sides ahead.
