A young Liverpool fan had a night to remember on Wednesday when he jumped over the advertising boards following his side’s win over MK Dons and raced onto the pitch to get Harvey Elliott’s shirt.
The Reds breezed through to the last-16 of the Carabao Cup thanks to a 2-0 win over the League One side with James Milner and Ki-Jana Hoever scoring the goals.
If victory wasn’t enough then Alfie Hughes, 10, from Whiston, ensured he had the perfect evening by running onto the pitch to get a piece of memorabilia to take back to Merseyside.

He finally got his wish when Harvey Elliott, who impressed for the Reds, was happy to oblige
As soon as the full-time whistle went, Hughes sprinted over the advertising boards
He then raced towards the centre circle in search of one of his hero’s shirts at Stadium MK
As the final whistle sounded, Hughes can be seen leaping over a barrier and onto the pitch in footage filmed by his father Paul.
He then sprints towards the centre circle in search of a player. According to the Liverpool Echo, his first target was Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain but the midfielder was taken off late in the game and proved elusive.
Hughes then asked Milner and Naby Keita before turning to Elliott, who was more than happy to oblige.
His Dad said: ‘Alfie kept saying he hoped the players would come over and I kept saying there might be a struggle because there were a lot of kids where we were sitting.
‘He asked if he could go on the pitch and I said yes, as long as he came straight back.
‘He was flapping and asking, “Will I get arrested?” but I said no it would be different for an adult and he won’t do it again. It was a one-off.’

After returning to the stands, Alfie received a huge cheer from the fans in his block. While no steward came to take Hughes off the pitch, his dad admitted that Alfie also proved too quick for himself.
‘I was actually about to ask the steward if he could go on the pitch but before I could he was already on it,’ he added. ‘I wasn’t sure if he would have the bottle to do it, but he was away and on it.’
It may prove to be an expensive piece of memorabilia in the future after Elliott turned in a dazzling display that suggested he could have a crucial role to play for the Reds.
Liverpool return to action in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime when they travel to play recently-promoted Sheffield United.
