Alex Reid teases Hollyoaks return as Jason Cunliffe 17 years after leaving show
Alex Reid has hinted that a potential Hollyoaks return could be on the cards, 17 years after his exit.
The 44-year-old played heartbreaker Jason Cunliffe for two years, before his high-intensity departure in 2002.
Speaking exclusively with Daily Star Online, the former soap star made it clear he was open to a dramatic comeback.
He said: "Never say never, my character is still alive. I think my agent is actually speaking to them about [a return]."
Alex joined the show in 2001 as high-flying footballer Jason, sparking up an affair with blonde bombshell Geri Hudson (Joanna Taylor).
He famously cheated on Geri behind her back with a book publisher named Alison and hit on her friend Izzy.

Things came to a head when Jason's pal tried to sexually assault Geri at a party in his mansion, and he failed to intervene.
Geri and Jason tied the knot, but right after the wedding she got her revenge and turfed him out of the car, planning to rinse him in the divorce settlement.
Seeing as his character is still alive, bad boy Jason could make a 2020 comeback, shaking things up in Chester.

After leaving the show, Alex rose to fame as a reality star and MMA fighter, making appearances on shows like Celebrity Big Brother.
The dad-of-one also had a high-profile marriage to former glamour model Katie Price, though the two parted ways in 2012.
Hoping to lead a simpler life, Alex explained "I graduated from the Guildford School of Acting all of 20 years ago. I did plays, I've done films.
"I'm starting to get recognised as an actor. Unfortunately, the salacious media put a halt on that. I'm not anti-celebrity, but I lost a sense of who I was.

"Now I'm being creative with my acting which I absolutely love. With all the stresses and trials and tribulations there's no better way to de-stress than to become another character and throw yourself into a role."
He added: "It's going back to what I wanted to be when I was a kid. I wanted to be Captain Kirk on the Starship Enterprise, explore the galaxy and have a different alien girlfriend every week."
Alex is starring in Jack And His Giant Bigstalk in London's Karma Sanctum Hotel Soho this winter.
Playing Daisy the Cow in the adult pantomime, the show promises to be a fun-loving affair.
Speaking about the upcoming role, he joked: "I'm going to do method acting – I'm going to stand on a farm and understand how it feels to be a cow!"
The show runs from December 13 to January 5, but those who want to see more of Alex can find him @alexreidofficial on Instagram.
