Borat to return as Sacha Baron Cohen seen driving a truck around LA dressed as his famous character

BORAT looks set to return after Sacha Baron Cohen was spied driving around LA in a battered truck while dressed as his famous character.

Borat – and his memorable green mankini – became a huge hit following the 2006 film.

Now his sudden reappearance has started speculation that a sequel may be in the works.

Sacha, 48, starred in Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, where he played a journalist hoping to experience American culture.

A video was shared on Twitter by user @switzonthegreat of the actor dressed as the much-loved character.

The onlooker couldn't contain his excitement as he captioned it and wrote: "Just saw a live shooting of Borat driving some yellow hooptie truck in my hood!!! ?".

Viewers see him sitting behind the wheel of a beat-up truck, which is being pulled along the road by a camera crew.

Dressed in Borat's trademark ill-fitting suit, Sacha is seen struggling to take off his jacket in the vehicle.

Despite the popularity of the character, Borat was retired with Sacha saying he had become too well-known to pull off pranks.

Instead it has been left to fans of the character to ensure the name of Borat lives on.

In 2017 the comic offered to pay the £52 penalties imposed on six Czech tourists for sporting bright green Borat-style mankinis in Kazakhstan.

The pranksters braved the snow to pose for pics in front of the "I love Astana" monument in the capital city of Astana – but were later charged with petty hooliganism.

Writing on Facebook, Sacha said: "To my Czech mates who were arrested. Send me your details and proof that it was you, and I'll pay your fine."

But the star has still been keeping busy and last month reportedly pranked Rudy Giuliani, which led the former NYC mayor to call police.

Rudy Giuliani, President Donald Trump's personal attorney, phoned the NYPD when Cohen pranked him at the Mark Hotel in July.

Giuliani, 76, who expected to be interviewed about the administrations response to coronavirus, recounted the unusual incident to PageSix.

The former mayor of New York City said: “This guy comes running in, wearing a crazy, what I would say was a pink transgender outfit.

“It was a pink bikini, with lace, underneath a translucent mesh top, it looked absurd.

"He had the beard, bare legs, and wasn’t what I would call distractingly attractive.”

He added: “This person comes in yelling and screaming, and I thought this must be a scam or a shake-down, so I reported it to the police. He then ran away.”

Sacha, who was born in Hammersmith, London, is married to Australian actress Isla Fisher.

They have two daughters, Elula and Olive, and one son, Montgomery.
