TIMES have been hard for Kelly Neelan in the cobbles as the wayward teen has lost both of her parents.

Coming up in Coronation Street, however, she's set for financial security as she gets an inheritance bombshell from her father Rick.

As ITV viewers know, the past year has been particularly harrowing for Kelly (played by Millie Gibson).

After being blamed for Seb Franklin's assault and resulting death and sleeping in the streets, the youngster found out her father Rick Neelan had been found dead.

Her pain was only made worse after her terminally ill mother Laura (Kel Allen) gave out her last breath.

But while she may worry about her financial situation, as she mainly depends on Gary Windass (Mikey North) and his wife Maria (Samia Longchambon), she has no idea her loan shark father had everything planned out for her.

Next week, as she tries to come to terms with her mum's death, Kelly is overwhelmed when she discovers she stands to inherit everything from her dad, including the family home.

She asks Gary to go and check the house for her and as the latter enters the neglected home, he finds a photo of a smiling Rick.

Gary packs up some belongings to bring back to Kelly, which only makes things harder for her.

Kelly is faced with reminders of her childhood and is overcome with emotion.

She hurries out of Victoria Court – only to hit rock bottom as it's revealed she has taken her mother's morphine bottle.

While her pain and grief could get the best of her as she may relapse into her old addictions, Kelly has one less thing to worry about.

Before her death, Laura was desperately trying to get hold of her former husband Rick in a bid to secure some money for their daughter.

Laura hired a private investigator to track down the ruthless loan shark… but eventually found out he was dead.

More importantly, she also learned that Gary murdered him in 2019 after Rick terrorised Weatherfield residents.

But after disappointing and betraying Kelly, Laura couldn't find it in her heart to turn Gary in to the police, knowing he provided security for her daughter.

She therefore took the blame for Rick's death, claiming their last fight turned deadly.

Kelly still doesn't know the truth.
