Coronation Street spoilers: Roy Cropper tries to save niece Nina from being abused by thugs
CORONATION Street legend Roy Cropper will try to save his niece Nina from bullies following the death of her father in upcoming scenes.
The cafe owner was left devastated when he found his long-lost brother dead on the floor after leaving him alone and has been trying to make it up to his niece ever since.
Corrie fans will remember that Roy reunited with his long-lost brother Richard after learning that his mother Sylvia had had an affair and given birth to a child several years ago.
Richard was then given up for adoption, with Roy only coming to discover that he had a brother late last year.
The brothers soon discovered they had many shared interests, including online scrabble, but this was tarnished by the fact that Roy's newfound sibling was terminally ill with pulmonary fibrosis.
Matters were made worse when Richard’s daughter Nina discovered that Roy had left her dad on his own when he died.
Disaster struck when Roy went to the café to deal with a leaking freezer before Richard’s carer had arrived, leaving him to collapse and die alone.
In an upcoming episode, Roy goes to check on Nina and is horrified to see her front door splattered with eggs.
Roy worries that Nina is being targeted by bullies and asks her to come and stay with him – but she insists she’s fine.
When Roy then finds Nina fretting over her coursework because her sewing machine has conked out, he returns with Hayley’s old machine.
In scenes yet to air, Nina asks her uncle to be her model.
Roy agrees and chats about Hayley and the difficulties she encountered as a transgender woman, leading Nina to warm to Roy.
Later in the week, Nina calls at the café with Hayley’s sewing machine.
But over a cup of tea, Roy notices she has a bandaged hand.
Nina is quick to explain how her neighbour set his dog on her.
Roy is shocked but Nina insists it’s not worth making a fuss – what is she hiding?
