Coronation Street fans are going to have to wait until the end of the year it seems to see Geoff Metcalfe (played by Ian Bartholomew) receive his comeuppance for coercively controlling and abusing his wife Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley) King for nearly two years. In the meantime, the story is taking all sorts of twists and turns, with Geoff now pleading with the police to drop all charges and throw the case out of court. In another spoiler image – which has no official caption from ITV – speculation has suggested Geoff will try and convince Yasmeen he will change and seek professional help should she come home to him.

From changing the way she dresses to controlling the finances and the time she spends outside the house; Geoff’s manipulation has come in a variety of forms.

Corrie fans will also remember when Geoff locked Yamseen in his magician’s box, teaching her a lesson about timekeeping.

As well as killing her beloved pet chicken, Charlotte Bronte and feeding it to her for their dinner.

More recently, ITV viewers found out Geoff had been leaving little red crosses around the house for Yasmeen to find, as an indicator this was the area she needed to clean.

Both defended this behaviour by claiming it was a game they played with one another.

Earlier this week, Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) became another Weatherfield resident to learn exactly what Geoff is like, and capable of.

Following a heart-to-heart with Yamseen’s granddaughter Alya Nazir (Sair Khan), and mutual friend Cathy Matthews (Melanie Hill), Sally went to visit Yasmeen in prison.

The two ladies – both with a shared history of suffering domestic abuse – discussed Yasmeen’s situation, and Sally tried to make Yasmeen see she was a victim in all of this.

It wasn’t long before word got to Geoff, and he stormed over to Sally’s house demanding answers until Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) walked in.

Realising more and more friends and family are starting to figure out exactly who Geoff is, he is going to make a u-turn next week.

Viewers already saw his request to visit Yasmeen in prison denied, so he is going to go to the police station instead and ask to retract his statement.

But he will be told it isn’t as simple as dropping the charges, the case is now in the hands of the CPS who will deem it worthy – or not – of going to court.

Next week’s scenes are going to see Geoff ring Yasmeen, but there is no official spoiler for these images.

Some have suggested Geoff is going to try and convince Yasmeen to side with him and defend their relationship and his actions.

After all, it is clear, Yasmeen is still under Geoff’s control.

There has also been claims Geoff is going to persuade his wife that should she come back to him, he will change and seek professional help for his issues.
