Coronation Street star says she was forced to audition as return confirmed

Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon has revealed she was forced to audition for the role of Bethany Platt.

The 27-year-old actress is best known for playing the daughter of Sarah Lou Platt (Tina O'Brien) from 2015 until 2020.

Over the five years, she was part of some of the soaps most gripping storylines.

However, Lucy has admitted that she was pushed to go to the audition.

Speaking on the Soap From The Box podcast with Lee Salisbury, the soap siren said: "It was really weird. I was only 18 at the time I was auditioning.

"I was king of forced to do the first audition. I kept saying I didn't want to do it and at the dance school I went to, the principal said: 'you have to go' so I have everything to thank her for."

Despite winning numerous awards for her role as Bethany, Lucy went on to reveal that she was nervous to join the cast.

She said: "When I first started my first scenes were with Samia [Longchambon] who plays Maria [Connor] and Sue [Nicholls] who plays Audrey [Roberts] and it was in the salon.

"Two loveliest people you could be put with but it was so scary.

"I remember for the first six months I basically didn't come out of my dressing room because I was only 19 and so nervous and I didn't want to go in the green room and sit and talk to anyone.

"Tisha, who was there at the time, would say 'come on, come and sit in the green room' so I'd only ever go if Tisha was in and she would take me into the green room and then eventually it was absolutely fine."

It comes after reports that Lucy is set to return to Corrie as Bethany after three years away from Weatherfield.

A source told the The Sun on Sunday: "Lucy is one of soap’s most talented actresses who won lots of awards for her powerful portrayal of Bethany’s grooming storyline.

"Bosses reached out to her a few weeks ago about the possibility of coming back, and told her everything they’d planned for Bethany if she agreed.
