Coronation Streets Max Turner star supported by cast as he shares career news

Coronation Street star Paddy Bever's cast mates rushed to support him after he made an exciting announcement about his career.

The 19-year-old actor – known to viewers as Max Turner – took to his Instagram page to let his followers know that he has been shortlisted for the Rising Star Award at the National Television Awards (NTAs).

Viewers first saw Paddy on screen as David Platt's stepson back in 2021 when he took over the role from Harry McDermott, who had been playing Max since 2010.

Harry departed the soap to make way for his acting studies and to seek other opportunities, leaving the door open for Paddy to join when the part was recast.

Max has since become a fan-favourite on the show after a rocky start when he accused Daniel Osbourne of attempting to groom Summer Spellman, he then injured himself after falling while trying to trash Daniel's flat.

But his bad behaviour on screen hasn't stopped him becoming popular with his Weatherfield cast mates, who rushed to show their support following his announcement.

He wrote: "Incredibly excited to announce that I’ve been shortlisted for the National Television Award for ‘Rising Star’ (what a mouthful). I am so very grateful to all those who voted. I’ve now been working at @coronationstreet for just over a year and it has most definitely been the best of my life.

"The cast, crew and all those who work so hard behind the scenes have been nothing short of marvellous. To be in such good company with @joelocke03 @kit.connor @charithra17, three huge talents, is a great privilege.

"The vote opens today – if you’d like to vote for me, the link is in my bio, as well as on my story. Thank you."

Amy Barlow actress Elle Mulvaney showed her support as she said: "Loooooove this!!!"

Kelly Neelan star Millie Gibson quipped: "Ahh that's my boy!"

Sam Blakeman actor Jude Riordan added: "Voted Paddy."

Meanwhile, Toyah Habeeb star Georgia Taylor showed the love by posting: "Yes, Paddy! Thrilled for you, darling boy."

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV at 8pm
