Corrie star Chris Quinten joins Hollyoaks months after stripper proposal

Former Coronation Street star Chris Quinten has swapped Weatherfield for life in Hollyoaks village.

The actor, 62, played Gail Platt's husband Brian Tilsley in the ITV soap for 11 years between 1978 and 1989.

Chris is set to join Hollyoaks as Kyle Kelly's (Adam Rickitt) father Mark this Spring and it is not the first time the actors have worked together.

Chris' former Corrie alter-ego Brian was the father of Adam Rickitt’s previous character Nick Tilsley, who is now played by Ben Price.

Adam was cast almost 10 years after Chris' departure in 1989 but is excited to finally meet his first on-screen dad decades later.

More soap trivia follows with Diana Weston who has joined the Channel 4 soap as Kyle’s mum, Carol.

The actress previously played the wife of Hollyoaks villain Edward Hutchinson actor Joe McGann in The Upper Hand.

Speaking about the casting, Adam said: “This is one of the more surreal experiences of my career.

"After 23 years, I finally get to meet my first onscreen dad, which is truly bizarre.

“It’s an honour to have such well-established actors like Chris and Diana come in to play my parents and I’ve really enjoyed the scenes we’ve filmed so far.

"Plus at least having parents in the show means Kyle has an excuse to regress into adolescence, which comes quite easily to him.”

Chris added: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the scenes I’ve filmed so far at Hollyoaks, I already love the show and all of the cast, crew and production staff are fantastic and so friendly.

“Working with Adam after first playing ‘his’ dad more than 30 years ago is a dream come true, it’s a brilliant piece of soap nostalgia, which I hope everyone enjoys.

“I think Mark and Carole will really give viewers an insight into why Kyle became the man he is today, which has been a lot of fun to play and I’m looking forward to doing more.”

The actor's move to Hollyoaks comes months after he popped the question to stripper girlfriend Robyn Delabarre.

Chris popped the question at her 21st birthday party at Secrets strip club in Hammersmith.

He then whisked Robyn off for a romantic break in Mykonos to celebrate their happy news.

In a past interview, Robyn said her family found it "really difficult at first" but are supportive now.
