In total there have been 25 official James Bond movies to date include No Time To Die. And now out-going 007 Daniel Craig has shared his favourite of the lot from the last 60 years. The 53-year-old’s top Bond movie turns out to be a Sean Connery classic.

During a British GQ interview’s Q&A session, Craig was said “Goldfinger, I think, is my favourite James Bond movie.”

The 1964 movie was the franchise’s and Connery’s third movie following Dr No and From Russia with Love.

Goldfinger was also the last Bond film set 007 author Ian Fleming visited before he died. Sadly he wasn’t able to see the movie.

Craig added: “I love Dr No but it was sort of where Sean Connery became the James Bond that we know and love.”

During the new Apple documentary Becoming James Bond – which is free to rent until October 7 – Craig said: “I look at what I have done and go, ‘That is part of Goldfinger’.

“I am like, ‘Wow, I am connected to Goldfinger, Dr No, Live And Let Die’. My tenure is what it is, but it is only part of something bigger.

“I look back at the films and am incredibly proud of everyone one of them. I know we have done our best and we have really done our best.”

Earlier this year, Craig shared his favourite James Bond moment is from Roger Moore’s Live and Let Die.

Writing a short piece for Empire magazine highlighting his favourite cinema moments, Craig admitted that The Mummy, which starred his wife Rachel Weisz, was one of his favourites, plus the likes of Frozen, Goodfellas, Gladiator and The Avengers.

However, during his list, the only mention of James Bond was from Sir Roger Moore’s 1973 debut, Live and Let Die.

Craig simply wrote: “Cheering as Roger Moore danced over alligators.”

Bond fans will remember the scene where the one-armed Tee Hee leaves 007 to be eaten by what was actual crocodiles at a farm in the Deep South. However, Moore’s spy managed to escape by using the creatures as stepping stones.

The Live and Let Die scene was shot at Jamaica Safari Village at Ocho Rios after the crew, who had been searching for locations, came across the crocodile farm. Outside there was a signing warning that “Trespassers will be eaten.”

The owner, Ross Kananga, had suggested the stunt of 007 jumping across the crocodiles and was hired to perform it himself by the producers.

The sequence took five takes, including one that saw the last crocodile tear Kananga’s trousers after snapping at his leg. He sustained a number of injuries, including one that required 193 stitches, while being paid $60,000 for his part in the movie.

Of course, the farm owner also inspired the name of Live and Let Die’s villain Dr Kananga aka Mr Big, who was played by Yaphet Kotto. The real Kananga returned to live in South Florida in 1976 before dying of cardiac arrest while spearfishing in the Everglades just two years later at the age of 32.
