Dead to Me season 2 Netflix release date, cast, trailer, plot: When is the new series out?

Dead to Me is a Netflix dark comedy that was a big hit among viewers. The series follows two women played by Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini finding friendship through their grief. But what do we know about the second outing so far and when is the series out?

When is Dead to Me season 2 out on Netflix? 

Dead to Me has been officially announced for a second series. 

However, Netflix has yet to reveal the exact date that we can expect to see the new show. 

The first series aired on May 3, so we could see the show in the same time frame next year depending on when filming begins. 

Dead to Me season one ran for 10 episodes on Netflix, so it’s likely we could see a similar time frame for the second outing. 

The second series was announced on Twitter by Applegate, who posted a picture with Cardellini and wrote: “My girl we got more time together. I love you.”

Who is in the cast of Dead to Me season 2? 

The Dead to Me cast is led by Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini. 

Applegate plays Jen, a grieving widow who recently lost her husband Ted in a hit and run accident. 

Fans will know her from American sitcoms like Friends and as the lead in Samantha Who? 

Cardellini plays Judy who is also bereaved after the loss of her partner. 

The first season charts their friendship after the pair meet at a support group. 

Cardellini is known for leading roles in ER and Freaks and Geeks, as well as appearing in Hollywood films like Avengers and Brokeback Mountain. 

Jen’s youngest son Henry played by Luke Roessler and her real estate partner Christopher played by Max Jenkins are both also expected to return. 

However, it seems certain that James Marsden’s Steve won’t be making a return after viewers were left shocked at his death at the end of series one. 

What will happen in Dead to Me season 2? 

The biggest revelation in series one was that Judy could be behind the death of Jen’s husband in a hit and run. 

However, the show ended on something of a cliffhanger as we saw Jen and Judy standing over former’s ex-fiancé Steve’s body floating in the pool. 

The implication, although we don’t actually see it, was that Jen was the one who shot him. 

But while viewers were sure that this was the end for Marsden’s character, creator Liz Feldman hinted that there’s more to the story that meets the eye. 

She told The Hollywood Reporter: “I’ll just say that you don’t know that she shot him. 

“Netflix will have to order a season two for us all to find out. Just like the rest of the show, it’s not exactly what you think it’s going to be.” 

And luckily for the viewers, Netflix have done just that. 

Is there a trailer for Dead to Me season 2?
