EastEnders: Ben and Callum's reunion explained as Max Bowden confirms Ballum are still 'in love'

EASTENDERS fans have been desperate to see Ballum reunite after watching the lads fight their feelings for so long.

Fortunately, it looks like Ben Mitchell and Callum Highway could be back on sooner than expected…

When are Ben and Callum getting back together in EastEnders?

According to EastEnders fans on Twitter, the pair will be getting back together this week?

One viewer hinted it could be Thursday: "Reunion week is here! Only 4 more days to wait."

Moments later, another added: "Happy reunion week #EastEnders #Ballum."

However, EastEnders is yet to confirm whether Ben and Callum will reunite for sure this week.

What do we know about the Ballum reunion in EastEnders?

One thing's for sure, Ben and Callum are still very much in love.

Max Bowden – who plays Ben – confirmed the former couple will be in each other's lives again.

Speaking to the Metro, he said: "Their paths are always going to cross, that’s a definite. There’s a magnet that draws them back together but it’s never plain sailing. It looks like maybe it never will be but there’s this real magnetism and this strong love for each other – they want each other to be okay but Ben’s problem is that he doesn’t think he’s the one to do that for Callum.

"What makes their relationship so passionate and brilliant is that it’s not plain sailing and totally driven by emotion. These characters find it hard to be normal – it’s so explosive and the audience believe it in it because it’s so real. Nothing is ever plain sailing when you love each other – and Ben and Callum really do love each other."

BBC drama boss Kate Oates has also spoken about Ballum's future.

“The next chapter of the Ballum story as well, so I think we’re really rich in story at the moment, we’re really excited," she told Digital Spy. "We’ve had some great meetings, and people are coming away buzzing about what’s to come."

EastEnders is yet to confirm any details surrounding their reunion.

But that hasn’t stopped fans making predictions on Twitter and viewers are convinced that Phil will be the catalyst.

Ben and Callum have had a rocky relationship ever since the undertaker developed feelings for the Mitchell while he was still engaged to Whitney Dean.

The couple hit another obstacle more recently when Callum announced his plans to join the police.

But Callum realised that Ben was still up to no good when he returned home with blood on his shirt after helping his dad get revenge on Jack Branning.

Callum confronted Ben in emotional scenes and told him he is in love with him.

But Ben just shook his head before storming out.

He then told Callum he had to let him go to protect him.

He said: "I am not going to ruin you and I am not going to watch you get ruined, I don't love you.

"And I don't want your love."
