Eastenders actress Maisie Smith who plays Tiffany Butcher will be leaving the soap after 13 years.

It has been reported that the soap star, 20, who appeared on Strictly Come Dancing last year, has already filmed her final scenes.

The show's producer Jon Sen said: "We are all very sad to see Maisie leave.

"She’s been a wonderful company member during her time at EastEnders and it’s been a privilege to see her blossom into the star she is.

"She has created an iconic character in Tiff and the door is always open to her return. We wish her all the very best for her future projects."

Speaking about her departure, Maisie added: "It’s time to say farewell to Tiff! I’ve grown up on EastEnders since 2008, and have learnt from the best over the past 13 years.

"I’m very excited for my next challenge and thank the BBC for the opportunity they gave me as a 6 year old."

Back in 2008, Maisie stormed onto screens as a child actor at the age of just six – winning over the nation with her vibrant personality.

It's thought that Maisie has filmed her last ever scenes at Walford today (Friday), with her departure ready to take place at the end of the year.

But fans will just have to tune in to find out what happens as the circumstances for her departure have not yet been revealed.

More recently, Maisie's character Tiffany has suffered a hard few months after her marriage broke down with husband Keegan.

Further shock was in store for the troubled daughter of Bianca Jackson and Ricky Butcher when her brother Liam showed up on Albert Square.

Last year, Maisie found an abundance of success as she took centre stage on Strictly Come Dancing with partner Gorka Marquez.

In spite of the pair being the bookies favourite for many weeks, they were beaten in the final by comedian Bill Bailey who astounded viewers with his week-on-week improvement and eventually lifted the glitterball trophy.

In an interview with the Daily Star, Maisie previously revealed how being on the BBC programme had given her confidence to be happy in her own skin.

She said: "Being on Strictly has really boosted my confidence. I've worked really hard the past seven weeks and I've got fitter.

"Also, I've been around really lovely people. I've spoken about my lack of confidence with a few of the other contestants. I spoke to Clara about it and she really helped me with it all.

"This time a year ago, I wouldn't have felt comfortable wearing the [Strictly] costumes. They're all absolutely crazy."
