Sharon Mitchell (played by Letitia Dean) gave up baby Kayden after struggling to come to terms with the tragic death of Denny Rickman (Bleu Landau) on EastEnders, handing him over to his grandma Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley). However, when Sharon asked for him back, a number of Karen’s family started worrying about the loss of looking after him, and in upcoming scenes on the BBC soap, a devastating legal battle could be about to commence.

Denny Rickman drowned on the same night that Sharon and Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) love child came into the world.

As little Kayden was asleep, Sharon was told the news that she would never see her teenage son again, and the woman started to spiral.

She just wasn’t able to look after the newborn and dumped him with Karen, who was of course, more than willing to step up for the little boy.

However, when Sharon found a gift from Denny to the newborn baby, one he had been hiding so it would be a surprise, Sharon was hit with an epiphany.

Sharon told Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) she couldn’t believe she had abandoned her own son.

The mother admitted that Denny would never have wanted his little brother to be without his mother, no matter the circumstances and she went to get him back.

However, in the few weeks that followed Denny’s death, Karen was Kayden’s sole carer and bonded with her grandson, leaving her family worried about her handing him back.

Her daughter Bernadette Taylor (Clair Norris) even suggested she fight for the little one a couple of months back.

Express.co.uk recently spoke to Zoe, a solicitor from Stowe Family Law about what Karen could do to get Kayden back for good.

Sharon hasn’t been in her right mind recently, disappearing and then returning, and now she has signed the lease to the Queen Vic with her son’s killer Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt).

The question is: When Ian is finally exposed, could Karen use this in court along with Sharon’s recent behaviour to secure Kayden?

Zoe explained: “Grandparents can make an application to the court for their grandchild to live with them but, in most cases, they need the court’s permission to make the application.

“Karen could make an application to the court for a decision as to whether Kayden should live with her and she could raise that Sharon abandoned him.

“The court would then consider the ‘welfare checklist’ to decide what would be in Kayden’s best interests.

“This would include the capability of Sharon in meeting Kayden’s needs and whether the child has suffered or may be at risk of suffering any harm.”

A pub isn’t the safest place to raise a child, but not impossible, the issues will begin when Sharon finally discovers she is locked in a lease with a man who not only has acted as a best friend as she grieved but also the man responsible for her son’s death.
