‘Evidence’ I’m A Celebrity fans think proves ‘vegan Beverley Callard is lying’

I''m a Celebrity.. Get Me Out of Here! star Beverley Callard has claimed she turned vegan in March, just a few months before the start of the gruelling ITV reality show.

Since entering the show, the Coronation Street icon has been eating plant-based dishes at Gwrych Castle in Wales, including during the famously revolting eating challenge when she ate fermented plums, tofu and vomit fruit.

However, the soap star's dietary requirements have caused controversy on social media as she's been spotted tucking into various treats such as bread and butter and Custard Creams.

Eagle-eyed viewers have gone as far as accusing the star of lying to cheat her way out of eating gross animal bits in trials.

Daily Star Online has taken a look into all the I'm A Celebrity 'evidence' fans think prove "vegan" Beverley is "lying".

Jammy Dodgers

I'm A Celebrity fans flocked to their keyboard on Sunday night as they wondered if vegan Beverley should have eaten a Jammy Dodger biscuit.

The soap star was elated when her co-stars Russel Watson and Vernon Kay won the jam-filled biscuits for camp through the Castle Coin Challenge.

Vernon and Russell brought back a platter of Jammy Dodgers and Bev was clearly in her element as she tucked into the treat.

"I've eaten a Jammy Dodger," she cheered in the telegraph after demolishing the biscuit.

Viewers accused Beverley of lying about her dietary requirements but it turns out the biscuits are in fact vegan.

A dairy-free recipe change was announced in July by maker Burtons Biscuits meaning the iconic snack was vegan again after adding milk protein in 2016.

"Bev knows Jammy Dodgers are now dairy free for vegans!!" said one fan tweeted.

"They are one of the greatest accidentally vegan things in the world," another viewer penned.

Custard Creams

A Jammie Dodger biscuit is not the only sweet treat vegan Beverley has been tucking into during her time in the castle.

The Corrie legend jumped for joy at the thought of eating Custard Creams when the biscuits arrived for the celebrities to enjoy last week.

Although ITV viewers didn't see the actress take a bite, they questioned whether she'd been given a vegan-friendly custard cream.

One viewer said: "Did Bev just get excited about custard creams that aren’t vegan?"

Another added: "Beverly wanted custard cream although she is a vegan."

Someone else asked: "If Beverly’s a vegan, can she even eat custard creams?"

Scotch egg

The camp were rewarded with scotch eggs after Jordan North and Ruthie Henshall successfully completed the Castle Coin Challenge during Monday night's episode.

Beverley speedily gobbled the treat alongside her other celebrity contestants, who couldn't wait to demolish the savoury snack.

Naysayers rushed to their keyboards to question if the Coronation Street icon should have wolfed down the savoury favourite.

However, host Dec has jumped into Bev's defence to reveal that the snack was an animal-free product.

When a Twitter user penned: "Well well well Beverly… was that scotch egg vegan?", Dec took to the presenting duo's joint account to defend the actress writing: "She got a vegan one tbf. D."

A typical Scotch egg usually consists of a hard boiled egg wrapped in pork sausage meat and then dipped in bread crumbs.

Bread and butter

Beverley appeared to once again "break her vegan diet" as eagled-eyed viewers spotted her slather butter over her bread last week.

On Wednesday, the Corrie star cheered along with her campmates as AJ Pritchard and Jessica Plummer revealed the snack which they had won, before she enjoyed a slice of the loaf.

Beverley enthused: "That is the best bread I've ever tasted" after eating it as slowly as possible.

Pointing out that vegans don't eat any food derived from animals, one viewer tweeted: "How did Beverly eat butter and bread if she’s vegan like I need verification it was vegan! Can’t even do a proper eating challenge."

The social media platform was also awash with funny GIFs as fans questioned the truth over the actress' vegan claim.

One I'm A Celeb fan posted: "Me investigating what Bev is eating to see if she's REALLY vegan."

"The producers trying to figure out why Bev is eating bread and butter when she's meant to be vegan," wrote someone else.

Corrie co-star raises questions

It's not only I'm A Celeb fans questioning if Beverley really is a vegan.

The Corrie icon's on-screen son Simon Gregson has admitted he's not convinced by her sudden health and lifestyle change.

Simon, who has played Liz McDonad's son Steve for 31 years, he "must be a mango" if Bev has really decided to become a vegan, hinting she could be trying to swerve some of the show's more disgusting dishes.

Speaking on Loose Women recently, Simon, 46, told the panel that it's likely Beverley decided to go vegan given her daughter follows the same diet.

Simon told panellist Stacey Solomon that he was shocked to see Bev tell presenters And and Dec that she's vegan.

He said: "Yeah, you see, you know, well, Rebecca her daughter is vegan and I’m sure Bev has done it for all the right reasons and health and to save the planet.

"And if you believe that, I’m a mango," he teased.

Presenter Linda Robson joked: "Are you sure so it's just so she doesn't have to eat anything disgusting?"

The actor joked: "I'm pretty sure it's because she doesn't have to put a willy in her mouth, yeah."
