Golden Globes 2020 nominations revealed – here's who's up for an award
THE Golden Globes 2020 has revealed its list of nominations celebrating the best of the year’s entertainment on TV and film.
The winners will be announced at the lavish 77th Golden Globe Awards ceremony in January hosted by comedian Ricky Gervais. Is your favourite actress or series up for a gong this year? Here is a full list of nominations.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama
Renée Zellweger, Judy
An unrecognisable Renée plays actress Judy Garland during the final year of her life before a drug overdose killed her aged 47. It’s her first acting role since staring in the 2016 film Bridget Jones’s Baby.
Charlize Theron, Bombshell
The Oscar-winning Monster actress transforms into Fox News anchorwoman Megyn Kelly, alongside Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie in a real life story of fighting sexual harassment.
Saoirse Ronan, Little Women
At only 25, the talented Irish actress picks up her fifth Golden Globe nomination. Saoirse plays Jo March in Greta Gerwig’s retelling of Louisa May Alcott’s tale of four sisters coming of age in America following the Civil War.
Cynthia Erivo, Harriet

The Welsh-born actor is best known for complex and tormented characters in films such as American Psycho and the Batman trilogy, often transforming his body drastically for roles. The 45-year-old had to apparently lose 70lbs to play fearless driver Ken Miles.
Joaquin Phoenix, Joker
The multiple award winning Gladiator star has been lauded for his role as unhinged Arthur Fleck in Joker, often taking an obsessive approach to roles. The American actor lost three-and-a-half-stone for the Batman spin-off, which he admitted made him “start to go mad”.
Antonio Banderas, Pain and Glory
From the voice of Puss in Boots in Shrek to The Mask of Zorro, the 59-year-old Spanish actor has starred on the big screen since the 1980s. Antonio plays an aging film director who reflects on his life choices as his world comes crashing down around him.
Jonathan Pryce, The Two Popes
Up for a gong for portraying Pope Francis in this biographical drama, you may recognise Jonathan as the High Sparrow from Game of Thrones. The Welsh actor has been on our screens for 40 years starring in Evita in 1996 as well as Pirates of the Caribbean and Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies.
