Is Hiram Lodge returning to Riverdale?
Thanks to Riverdale season seven’s 1950s setting, many characters who were killed off or left under unusual circumstances have been able to return for the final outing.
Clifford Blossom (played by Barclay Hope), Hal Cooper (Lochlyn Munro), Dilton Doiley (Major Curda) and Midge Klump (Emilija Baranac) have all been back with alternative storylines that fit in with this era of the teen comedy-drama.
Another ghost from the past is set to return as well, this time in the shape of mob boss and Veronica Lodge’s (Camila Mendes) dad Hiram Lodge.
When Riverdale was set in the present day, Hiram couldn’t help but cause chaos for the once quiet suburban town as soon as he was released from prison.
From trying to have Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) killed and back-handed money making schemes, to opening a prison on its doorstep and setting a bomb, Hiram has been horrendous.

So it’s no wonder that in season six Hiram was exiled from the town and Veronica actually put a hit out on her own dad, having him killed off screen.
But with a new timeline in a completely different era, Hiram is able to come back to life and will be guest starring in the upcoming episode The Crucible.
In this 1950s world, Hiram and his wife Hermione Lodge (Marisol Nichols) are actors living in Los Angeles who cut Veronica off financially after her bad behaviour so they’re not exactly on great terms.
His visit to Riverdale is therefore met with suspicion by Veronica who believes there is an ulterior motive to him dropping by out of the blue.

News of Hiram’s Riverdale comeback was announced on actor Mark Consuelos’ talk show, Live with Kelly and Mark, which he hosts with his wife Kelly Ripa.
Former co-star Madchen Amick who plays Alice Cooper, paid the couple a visit on the ABC show to talk about the upcoming episode which she directed.
It was during their chat that it came out that Consuelos would be reprising his role as the villainous Hiram Lodge.
She joked “he’s got a lot of potential” and went on to compliment: “You [Consuelos] was incredible, it was an incredible episode for Mark.”
The official synopsis for The Crucible reads: “Panic ensues after Archie and the gang learn that Mrs Thornton (Frances Flanagan) is accused of being a communist.
“Cheryl’s (Madelaine Petsch) father Clifford forces her to out gay students at Riverdale High or risk losing power over the Vixens.
“Meanwhile, Hiram’s surprise arrival to town is quickly met with suspicion by Veronica, and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) devises a plan to get around a boycott of comic books.”
Riverdale season seven continues every Thursday on Netflix.
