How many episodes are in Yellowjackets on Sky?
Fans of Yellowjackets in the USA have been loving the series so far, as it has become far more than a simple story of survival.
Originally debuting on November 14, the UK isn’t far behind, with Sky Atlantic dropping the first episode on December 2.
Much like in the United States, the series will air weekly, with the story slowly being unfolded over a matter of months, rather than the entire season being released all at once to binge.
The season clocks in at a tight 10 episodes though, with the finale airing on February 3, 2022.
What is Yellowjackets about?
The story is set to be expansive in scope and scale, with the story taking place over months, even years.
After surviving a plane crash in a remote northern wilderness in 1996, the football team comes together in a bid for survival.
The show will follow them as they go from a thriving team to savage clans, watching their descent as they piece back their lives 25 years later.
There will be numerous flash-forwards throughout the show, revealing just four survivors in 2021.
The women who survived are clearly haunted by their shared ordeal as they had to commit hideous acts to make it out alive, even resorting to cannibalism.
It will come as no surprise for viewers the show will be filled with twists, turns, reveals and of course, shocking moments.
Who is in Yellowjackets?
The main characters are Shauna Sheridan (played by Melanie Lynskey), young Natalie (Sophie Thatcher, Taissa (Tawny Cypress), and Jackie (Ella Purnell).
Rounding out the main cast is teenage Misty (Samantha Hanratty), Ben Scott (Steven Krueger), adult Misty (Christina Ricci), and Natalie (Juliette Lewis).
Speaking to AV Club, Ricci spoke about some of the “shocking things” viewers will see in the series.
Ricci explained: “I would say it gets really extreme [moving forward].
“You know, they always say that people who have experienced a lot of extreme things in their life are not necessarily as good at guarding against extreme things coming into their lives later on.
“So, as adults, things are going to happen that you’re just like, ‘That’s not something that happens to people!'”
“You know, a lot of really surprising things, to say the least, happen to them, and they do a lot of very shocking things.”
So far, Showtime has not confirmed if there will be a second season of the show.
It is also unconfirmed if the entire story will be told in season one, though the flash-forwards seem to suggest it could be a self-contained narrative.
Yellowjackets will premiere on Thursday, December 2 at 9pm on Sky Atlantic in the UK. The series is available to watch on Showtime in the USA.
