How Many Times the Infinity Stones Have Been Mentioned Up Through Avengers: Infinity War

Keeping track of the Infinity Stones is no easy task. From Asgard to Midgard, from Xandar to Vormir, the stones have been hidden, their presence mainly unknown to the galaxy except to a select few until it became everyone’s top priority to stop Thanos from collecting them.

So which was the stone that caused the most chatter? We tallied up every mention of each Infinity Stone up through Avengers: Infinity War:

The first stone to appear in the MCU was the Tesseract. The Red Skull pulled it out of a church in Norway in Captain America: The First Avenger. The second stone to be seen was the Mind Stone. Encased in a shell and used by Loki to manipulate the minds of men, he created havoc and chaos in New York.

These two stones have made the most appearances in the MCU by far. Once the Mind Stone was taken out of Loki’s staff by Ultron, it was put into the body of Vision. Vision is the Mind Stone’s keeper, he is powered by it, he also died because of it. The Time Stone is the third most mentioned and seen stone, mainly because it hangs around the neck of the Sorcerer Supreme. Doctor Strange used the stone to defeat Dormammu. He tried to use it to defeat Thanos, but he failed.

The Power Stone or the Orb, as the Guardians called it, was seen many times, until the Guardians gave it to the brave people of Xandar to protect. The Reality Stone, also known as the Aether, was also seen many times in Thor: The Dark World, however, it was not the least seen of the stones. That honor goes to the Soul Stone. Gamora concealed its presence on Vormir for years. She knew that if Thanos found it, the universe would suffer, so she hid it, she even asked Star-Lord to kill her to keep its location protected. Thanos found it, however, and Gamora’s soul paid the price, and that type of sacrifice came into play in a big way in Avengers: Endgame as well.

Over the last 10 years, the stones have been the driving force behind the Infinity Saga. They had one last role to play in Avengers: Endgame: to set the universe right again and restore everyone who was lost in the fateful “snap” of Thanos. But will they have any role to play now that Endgame is at an end? Only time will tell.
