Im A Celeb camp at risk of being evacuated over severe weather warning

I’m A Celeb: Grace Dent leaves the jungle on medical grounds

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! bosses are reportedly on high alert over the latest weather forecast.

Usually, fans of the ITV show are used to seeing the stars enjoy the Australian sunshine in camp.

However, this year, it’s been wetter than expected as the line-up has suffered heavy downpours and multiple storms.

It looks as though things aren’t going to be improving anytime soon as the latest weather warnings show there’s a possibility of flooding and strong winds.

According to a TV source, the severe weather is expected to happen in and around Murwillumbah, where the camp is based on the border of the two states.

He said: “ITV bosses are now on red alert at the prospect of having to move the celebs out of camp if things do get dangerous.”

On the Australia Bureau of Meteorology website, predictions for Wednesday indicate a chance of a thunderstorm possibly severe with damaging winds inland.

Meteorologist Jonathan How said: “On Wednesday, we see the severe thunderstorm risk extend to the coast taking in Brisbane, Sydney and Canberra.

“In parts of southern Queensland and in northern New South Wales is where we could see destructive winds of 125 kilometres an hour as well as giant hail.”

If the weather does force the stars to leave camp, it wouldn’t be the first time as the celebrities were made to evacuate back in 2015 when thunder, lightning and torrential rain poured into the jungle.

Similarly, when the show was briefly filmed in North Wales back in 2021, the stars had to completely leave Gwrych Castle due to the rough weather.

Instead, they had to relocate to a nearby guest house when the storm caused chaos on set.

Touching on the current warning, an ITV spokesperson said: “We have contingencies in place for all weather eventualities.”

The weather warning comes days after food critic Grace Dent left the show on medical grounds.

Recently, the 50-year-old was seen leaving Australia at Brisbane airport and catching a flight back to London.

Speaking about her departure, a show spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “She has been a great campmate and will be missed by her fellow celebrities and viewers alike.”
