I’m A Celebrity campmates don’t choose luxury item they take into jungle
I'm A Celebrity campmates don't technically choose the luxury item they take into camp with them, with the decision made for them.
Viewers were left confused this week as Adele Roberts' personal item was revealed to be a signed photo of singer and presenter Jane McDonald.
Adele has explained the decision behind it, while her girlfriend Kate Holderness also took to Twitter to clear up why she chose the item.
It turns out not all celebrities get their first choice item, and the cast are not allowed to double up on luxury products.
Kate explained in her post that everything Adele planned to take in had already been snapped up by others, while the photo of Jane did mean something to her.
Now, a source for the jungle show hosted by Ant and Dec has confirmed the stars are not allowed to take in the same thing.
Instead, each star must tell producers three personal items before one is chosen for them.
A show insider told Mirror Online: "We don't double up on the same luxury items – each campmate personally suggests 3 luxury items and one of those is chosen to join them in camp.
"This has been the same for every series."
With a pillow, a family photo and other options all taken, Adele opted for something else that "made her happy".
Girlfriend Kate confirmed: "All the campmates have to have different luxury items, they're not allowed to double up on anything.
"So Adele's first choice of a family photo was already taken which she didn't mind because she knew there'd be campmates who'd love a picture of their children in there with them.
"Second choice, a pillow, was another goner as it's usually the most requested item. Pretty much everything she wanted after that was already taken too.
"The brief was 'something to make you happy' so she just chose something that never fails to cheer her up and something that reminds her of her early morning Radio 1 listeners – it's a bit of a long running feature on Adele's show."
Kate went on to explain how Adele's listeners often request Jane's songs on her show, so it had meaning.
It comes after some viewers accused Adele of only bringing the photo in to camp to be "funny", when in fact it all links back to her radio show and Jane being her idol.
I'm A Celebrity airs nightly at 9pm on ITV.
