After 11 days in the Australian jungle, Jamie Lynn Spears has become the second star to sensationally quit I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here, just two days after her campmate Grace Dent also left the competition to head home.
Sharing the news on Wednesday 29 November, it was revealed that Jamie Lynn, the 32 year old sister of pop sensation Britney Spears had left the camp and her hopes of being crowned queen on the jungle in the early hours of the morning, with show bosses citing “medical grounds” for her departure.
A spokesperson for ITV told fans: “Jamie Lynn Spears has left I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! on medical grounds. She’s been a fantastic campmate who has triumphed at trials and bonded well with her fellow celebrities.”
Jamie-Lynn is now the second star to have been removed from the show in a matter of days, after her fellow campmate Grace Dent also quit the show on Monday on “medical grounds.”
The star’s departure will no doubt come as a huge blow to many viewers at home, who have delighted in watching her take on the toughest of jungle challenges that were thrown at her during her time in camp.
However, while it is disappointing to lose a fan favourite, many viewers had feared that Jamie-Lynn could be making an early departure earlier in the week after she appeared to be struggling immensely with being separated from her children.
Throughout her time in the camp, Jamie-Lynn was frequently seen in tears as she wrestled with being so far from home, with the American even having teased she was ready to throw in the towel prior to being excused.
In particular, during her final episode, which aired on Tuesday night, Jamie-Lynn was seen to be growing increasingly frustrated as she attempted to use the camp phone box to call home, only to realise there was no dial tone to make an international call.
Slamming the receiver against the phone repeatedly, a disheartened Jamie them emerged from the box before sneaking off alone to cry behind a tree – something which hadn’t gone unnoticed by her campmates.
Clearly concerned for her wellbeing, Tony Bellew sought her ought to give her a hug and check in on her, as he saw her struggling with life in the jungle and wanted to offer some support.
Following her departure, Jamie-Lynn will now be able to fly back home to the United States and reunite with her family and children, who she has sorely missed during her 11 days in camp.
