Kathy prepares to destroy evil Lewis over Ben's sexual assault in EastEnders
Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) is on the warpath in EastEnders after finding out that Lewis Butler (Aidan O’Callaghan) raped her son Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden).
Ben, as viewers know, was sexually assaulted by Lewis several weeks ago.
He’d met with the bar manager at the Albert after a fall out with husband Callum Highway (Tony Clay), and they ended up upstairs, but Ben reconsidered taking things further. Lewis, however, didn’t take no for an answer, and refusing to let Ben leave, he raped him.
Ben has struggled to come to terms with what transpired, and his marriage fell apart, as Callum, not knowing what really happened, thinks that he cheated on him with Lewis.
Next week, Ben’s nearest and dearest begin to worry about him, and when Kheerat Panesar (Jaz Deol) finds him alone in the Arches, he relays his concerns to Kathy.
Kathy subsequently confronts her son, and a major showdown ensues, she puts the blame for what happened with Callum firmly at Ben’s door.
Ben struggles under the pressure of keeping things bottled up, and seeing just how upset he truly is, the penny finally drops for Kathy, as she realises that Lewis raped him.
Reeling, she offers her son all the support in the world. Ben, however, needs some space and thus storms off, much to Kathy’s dismay.
After a while, he returns home, and opens up to Kathy about his ordeal. A heart-to-heart ensues, and Kathy encourages him to report Lewis to the police.
Ben, however, refuses.
Will Kathy change his mind?
What’s more, will she fire Lewis over what he’s done? She tries to do just that before she knows about the rape, but Lewis warns her that he could take legal action.
