Love Island viewers spot Tyriques awful footwear during racy hideaway scenes

Love Island's Tyrique Hyde has given viewers the ick with a controversial footwear choice that distracted those watching his hideaway scenes.

The footballer, 24, and his partner Ella Thomas, 23, became the first couple this series to get the chance to visit the hideaway, a private space away from the main villa where contestants can get intimate.

But despite the racy scenes, viewers couldn't take their eyes off one jarring feature.

While Ella spent time dressing up with the girls in a hot pink outfit and gold heels, as well as choosing some lacy underwear, Tyrique's preparations for his hot date raised a few eyebrows.

He headed out to the hideaway, cheered on by the rest of the islanders, wearing just his underwear and a pair of pulled up socks with Crocs shoes.

Ella hid her face in her hands as the other contestants waved them off, but rather than embarrassment over the situation, viewers thought she might be horrified over Tyrique's choice of footwear.

One shocked viewer simply tweeted: "TYRIQUE IN SOCKS AND CROCS."

Someone else added: "That white socks and crocs combo would’ve given me the instant ick."

Another viewer, flagging up the difference in effort Ella and Tyrique had made, tweeted: "ella had TWO outfits and ty in his crocs n socks."

Someone else commented: "How does Ella look absolutely (fire emoji) and Tyrique rocks in with probably holey boxers and socks and crocs."

Viewers couldn't believe Tyrique hadn't tried harder to look good for the romantic evening.

One person tweeted: "Tyrique entering the hideaway with Ella for a romantic evening wearing 3/4 length sports socks and crocs just no…."

Someone else wrote: "ella puts on nice lingerie for the hideaway and tyrique has crocs and socks on. men."

Another viewer added: "ella really glammed herself within an inch of her life and tyrique is wearing LONG SOCKS AND CROCS."

Someone else commented: "Tyrique in crocs and socks and Ella looks like a Victoria secret model."

However, Ella must not have been offended by the lack of effort from Tyrique as later scenes in the hideaway showed them getting intimate with handcuffs and a riding crop.

By this point Tyrique had at least lost the socks and Crocs, but many viewers were still left cringing.

One person tweeted: "'I hate the hideaway segments, nobody wants to see that!"

Someone else agreed: "Please remove the cameras from the hide way… theres nothing in there I want to see it's cringe and the whole point it should be having an intimate moment."
