Lucifer season 5: Producer shares major update on new episodes ‘Patience will be rewarded’

Fans of the Biblical Netflix drama, originally on Fox, are understandably disappointed by the streaming service’s silence about new episodes. Thankfully, one of the main producers of the series has given fans some exciting insight regarding the upcoming season premiere of Lucifer.

Television filming and post-production schedules have been put under significant strain following the global outbreak of COVID-19.

As the coronavirus lockdown continues, popular series like Lucifer have been forced to stall work on the show as the cast and crew stay at home throughout the pandemic.

Devoted ‘Lucifans’ have therefore been understandably frustrated with the uncertain status of their favourite TV drama, especially given the show’s shaky track record in the past.

As fan unrest reached a breaking point this week, producer for the series Chris Rafferty shared some revealing insight on his personal Twitter profile.

The update came just days after series co-star Lesley-Ann Brandt, who plays the demonic best friend of Lucifer Morningstar (played by Tom Ellis), was forced to speak out against a rude fan interaction on her own social media profile.

Moreover, showrunner Ildy Modrovich was also able to share some tantalising info about the upcoming season, prompting Chris to weigh in.

After being bombarded by questions from fans, Ildy was able to confirm the fifth season will be bigger than ever when it finally returns.

She revealed: “Hm… mostly sworn to secrecy. Mostly… Because I CAN tell you that ALL the episodes are SUPERSIZED. Between 50 and 60 mins each. (IE: we’re long-winded mo-**s for this season.)”

Aside from season premieres and finales, episodes of Lucifer commonly run between 40-50 minutes long.

With Lucifer season five running for six episodes longer than the prior instalment, Ildy’s Twitter comment confirmed fans will be treated to even more Lucifer content than usual when the series eventually finds its way back to Netflix.

Following her post, producer Chris Rafferty issued a brief update regarding the still unspecified release date for Lucifer season five.

Replying to Ildy, he said: “To all the #Lucifer fans who keep asking when S5 will come out — we don’t know. And can’t say until Netflix is ready to announce.”

“But thanks to Ildy, I can at least share that #LuciferSeason5 will be HUGE. Every episode between 50-60 minutes.”

Chris then added the hashtags ‘#nouseinasking’ and #patiencewillberewarded’.

Although the lack of news regarding the season premiere is certainly disappointing, Chris and Ildy confirmed the decision is up to Netflix and the cast and crew of Lucifer are just as in the dark as fans where the release date is confirmed.

One viewer took to the comments and echoed Chris’s sentiments by sending out a similar caution to impatient fans.
