Nancy and Darren leave Hollyoaks amid murderous kidnapper story
Nancy and Darren Osborne (Jessica Fox and Ashley Taylor Dawson) were left with little choice but to run in Hollyoaks, after villainous newcomer Maya (Ky Discala) threatened to kill them.
Maya, as viewers will know, kidnapped Darren several months ago, with her boyfriend Ethan Williams (Matthew James-Bailey) holding him captive in the Brass Bath hotel.
Ethan, however, ultimately bonded with Darren, and thus agreed to let him return to his life in the village.
Maya was less than pleased when she discovered what had transpired, but despite her rage, she agreed to leave Darren be, under the condition that he kept shtum about his kidnapping ordeal.
But this Tuesday’s (January 4) offering of the Channel 4 soap saw her discover that Darren had gone back on his word, as she overheard a conversation between he and Nancy, in which they discussed his alleged kidnapping.
Nancy has struggled to believe Darren’s claims of being held captive, but this made no difference to Maya, as the kidnapper resolved to tie up any loose ends that could potentially incriminate her, and thus she paid Nancy a visit, masquerading as a midwife.
Darren, horrified to find Maya in his home, told Nancy who her guest was, prompting Maya to threaten Nancy with a syringe.
Desperate to protect his beloved Nancy, Darren explained to Maya that Ethan was gathering evidence to prove she was responsible for his kidnapping.
Horrified, Maya made a run for it. Nancy apologised for refusing to believe Darren’s tale of kidnap, and together, the pair agreed to go on the run in order to evade Maya’s grasp.
In emotional scenes, Nancy and Darren – as well as Charlie Dean (Charlie Behan) and Jack Osborne (Jimmy McKenna) – left the village.
The question is: have we seen the last of the popular characters? Either way, will they be forever looking over their shoulder, fearful of Maya taking revenge?
Hollyoaks continues Thursday January 6 at 7pm on E4.
