New pics of Doctor Who finale hint Ryan will be turned into Cyberman in heart-breaking twist – The Sun

JODIE Whittaker could be set to bid farewell to one of her companions as season 12 draws to a close.

The Doctor, along with Yasmin (Mandip Gill), Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Graham (Bradley Walsh) will travel to the future in the upcoming finale saga to make a final stand against the deadly Cybermen.

However, it looks like taking on the cyborgs will come at a price.

Preview pics see Ryan imprisoned by the robotic hybrids, strapped into what looks like a conversion unit.

As fans will know, Cybermen are humans who have had their humanity, in the most literal of senses, stripped away from them and replaced with machinery.

They have no feelings, free will or empathy and instead simply live to conquer and colonise other civilisations.

Could Ryan be forced to join the ranks after being taken prisoner and mutilated?

Other pics see Graham grappling with some kind of makeshift radar, seemingly attempting to send a distress signal.

Elsewhere, Jodie is snapped hiding among rubble as a Cyberman menacingly marches towards her.

The synopsis for the finale was the first thing to spark concern among fans, as it made no secret that The Doctor had endangered her companions.

"The aftermath of the Great CyberWar,” the description begins.

“The Doctor and friends arrive in the far future intent on protecting the last of the human race from the deadly Cybermen.

Next it poses the question: "But in the face of such a relentless enemy, has the Doctor put her best friends at risk?

“What terrors lie hiding in the depths of space? And what is Ko Sharmus?"

The Ascension of the Cybermen saga will welcome a series of new guest stars, including Game of Thrones stars Ian McElhinney and Patrick O'Kane, Mutant Chronicles' Steve Toussaint and Benidorm's Julie Graham.

In other Doctor Who news, Mandip Gill recently addressed the exit rumours surrounding her character Yasmin.

She admitted her future on the show was uncertain, but stressed that she’d love to be a part of season 13, which is set for a 2021 release, with production kicking off this autumn.

Doctor Who continues on Sunday at 7:10pm on BBC One and will be available to stream on iPlayer.
