Perrie Edwards admits she is enjoying ‘breathing space’ from Little Mix bandmates as they cancel video shoot

Perrie Edwards has admitted she is enjoying "breathing space" away from her Little Mix bandmates during her time in isolation.

The 26 year old took to Good Morning Britain on Friday morning to discuss her group's new single and how she is finding being in isolation with her footballer boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

She revealed the band had planned to film the music video for the single Break Up Song during a recent trip to Brazil, but had to cancel it due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Perrie was unable to travel to the country — where her bandmates Jesy Nelson, 28, Jade Thirlwall, 27, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 28, headlined GRLS! festival — due to illness.

Instead of filming a music video, the Shout Out To My Ex hitmakers have instead released a lyric video, which sees them star in a comic book.

Speaking to Ben Shephard and Lorriane Kelly on the ITV breakfast show, she said: "I think it's just obviously a weird time for everybody, but luckily for us we already had the single kind of sorted.

"We had everything ready to go and we were going to hold off on releasing it, but we just thought it's a nice, positive, uplifting song, it it will make people feel good, it's something to do during isolation. So yeah, we just wanted to go with it and raise everyone's spirits a little bit with new music."

However, Perrie went on to say she was enjoying some time apart from her bandmates, who have been busy filming their own reality show, Little Mix: The Search.

She continued to say she is "constantly" in contact with her fellow The X Factor winners, adding: "Our group chat on WhatsApp is always popping off.

"We're so used to being together 24/7, like, we live in each other's pockets. So when we're not together, it feels really weird. Like, even now chatting, I'm like 'where are the girls?'

"But yeah, it is also quite nice to have a little bit of breathing space for once because we never usually get time off."

Perrie left fans fearing she had caught the deadly bug earlier this month when she announced she was too ill to travel to Brazil with Jade, Jesy and Leigh-Anne.

She wrote on Instagram: Hey everyone, I'm so sorry to announce that I am unable to travel and perform in Brazil with the rest of the girls on Sunday due to being unwell.
